P.E.I. health officials say they are still waiting for the first reported case of seasonal influenza this year.

Dr. Mitch Zelman, the deputy chief health officer, said health officials have no idea why no cases have been reported.

"We are following the trend of the country," he said Wednesday. "It's been incredibly quiet from an influenza point of view all across Canada."

Zelman said he expects to see some seasonal influenza this season but is not sure when.

There have also been no reported cases of swine flu this year.
